M.Ed. Education and Human Resource Studies, 2013 (Projected)

    When the home building industry went bust in Phoenix in 2008, the need for training and industry trainers evaporated as builders and contractors drastically cut their staffs. I wanted to continue my training career but no longer had an industry to train. Up until that point, I'd been largely self taught in my field of expertise. I decided to return to school after 27 years to gain the formal training and educational credentials that I needed to continue my career elsewhere.
    I enrolled in the online Adult Education and Training Master Degree program at Colorado State University in June 2010. The program has been the perfect fit for me and a tremendous experience thus far. With fellow students from both academic and workforce education career backgrounds, I've gained a variety of perspectives to help me better understand the many facets of Adult Education. The curriculum has reinforced much of what I had learned previously through trial and error as a trainer in the corporate world, and filled in many of the knowledge gaps related to theory and practice that I lacked prior to enrolling in the program.
    I recently completed my fifth semester and my fifth class in the program. I plan to complete my degree in late 2013.
