EDAE 620 - Processes and Methods
Course Grade - A
My third class in the program, Processes and Methods, was very interesting to me, for it focused on examining the tools of the trade as an instructor - what I consider to be the meat and potatoes of the program. Whereas EDAE 601 helped me understand where I've been as a trainer, and EDAE 520 gave me a broader knowledge base of the many philosophies of adult education and an enhanced perspective of its diverse nature, this course focused on the many methodologies. It included the practical instruction that I'd previously lacked in a profession I've been practicing for 12 years now.
Two of my assignments in this class, my Philosophy of Teaching and Model of an Effective Adult Instructor can be viewed and downloaded on my Philosophy of Teaching page. Both helped me identify who I am as an Adult Educator.
I also completed an assignment on Icebreakers, attached below. As an active adult instructor, I find it challenging to come up with fresh ideas for icebreakers, so I found both the assignment and required reading on the subject quite helpful.
Other assignments for the course included creating a Learning Contract, a Portfolio (the primary reason I've created this site), a team presentation addressing Creative and Interactive Lecture Techniques, and a second team project, Strategies for Increasing Learner Retention.
As with the other classes in the program that I've completed, I've gained much from both the curriculum and the contributions of my classmates and their diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.
